The New York Daily News reported recently that a New York City man who heroically saved another man from being struck by a car in a tragic motor vehicle accident will lose his leg as a result of the accident that occurred on Sunday, April 18, 2021.
According to information from eyewitnesses as well as officials from responding emergency agencies, the incident took place between 6:20 p.m. and 6:40 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST) on Sunday, April 18, 2021 in the neighborhood of Harlem, near the intersection of 135th Street and Broadway. A gray Honda SUV collided with another vehicle in the roadway, sending it careening toward the sidewalk. It jumped the curb and was about to hit a pedestrian when another pedestrian yelled a warning to him. The first pedestrian was able to get out of the way, but the second one was unable to clear the path of the SUV and was struck.

The injured pedestrian was hit so hard that onlookers stated they couldn’t believe he lived through it, but he never lost consciousness. He was medically transported to a local hospital, but doctors were forced to amputate his leg to save his life. He now faces rehabilitation and a long road to recovery.
