The Stabroek News reported recently that a Guyanese pedestrian died on Sunday, March 14, 2021, a few days after being struck by a motor vehicle in the New York City borough of Queens.
According to representatives of the New York City Police Department (NYPD), the incident took place between 1:25 p.m. and 1:35 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST) on Friday, March 12, 2021 near the intersection of Queens Boulevard and 84th Drive in the Briarwood neighborhood, when a man from Guyana, 55 years of age, was struck by a 2013 Hyundai Elantra in Queens. He succumbed to wounds sustained in the accident on Monday. .

Syracuse.com reported this week that a bridge in Hinmansville, New York was closed indefinitely after a motor vehicle incident in which an oversized vehicle struck the bridge on Wednesday, March 17, 2021.
According to officials with the New York State Department of Transportation, the Hinmansville Bridge. which carries County Road 46 over the Oswego River, was struck by a vehicle on Wednesday. The single-lane road will remain closed while DOT crews inspect the bridge and ensure it is safe to use after the impact.
Motorists are asked to seek out alternate routes to cross the Oswego River, either crossing to the south in Phoenix or to the north in Fulton.
