Yahoo! News reports that the surviving family members of a woman being transported by ambulance from the hospital to her home are suing the ambulance company that was carrying her.
The plaintiffs in the case allege that the woman would likely have survived her trip to the hospital had the driver not crashed into a METRORail train in November
Attorneys for the family say that the woman was already in a fragile state of health and was being taken home from the hospital when the accident occurred at the intersection of Fannin and Cambridge in Houston.
The surviving family members of the 66-year-old woman include four children and six grandchildren. Alleging negligence, the family sued the driver and the ambulance that he worked for, Orion EMS. They believe it was the accident that ultimately led to her death.
Video taken from the scene shows the Orion EMS driver cutting across one lane of traffic before colliding with the METRORail train.

After the crash, the victim was put into another ambulance that took her home. A few days later, doctors found fluid and a blood clot on the woman’s brain. Even after doctors attempted to save her life by performing two brain surgeries, by February 2020, the woman died.
The family told reporters that they not only want justice for their beloved matriarch. They want to ensure that the company’s EMS drivers are better so that other families do not have to go through similar pain and suffering.
