Hudson Valley 360 reported recently that a motor vehicle accident occurred along the Taconic State Parkway near the town of Austerlitz, NY on Saturday, January 16 in which a vehicle rolled over in the center median after maneuvering to avoid an accident with another vehicle.
According to officials with Troop K of the New York State Police, the incident happened between 11 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST) on Saturday, January 16 along the Taconic State Parkway near mile marker 98.1, when a New York City man 23 years of age, driving a 2020 Kia motor vehicle, swerved to avoid a second vehicle that had executed an unsafe lane change. The driver managed to avoid contact with the other vehicle but left the road and rolled over in the center median.
The driver was examined by paramedics at the scene of the accident but refused transport to a local hospital.

Columbia County 911 dispatched Austerlitz Fire Company and Chatham Rescue Squad to the accident site in addition to the response by Troop K of the New York State Police. The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office and New York Department of Transportation also assisted in the response. The left northbound lane of the Taconic State Parkway was closed to clean up after the accident.
