The Southampton Press reported recently that a Saturday night accident has led to a felony driving while intoxicated (DWI) charge for a resident of Sag Harbor.
The incident occurred Saturday night at the intersection of Hampton Street and Division Street, according to Sag Harbor Village Police representatives. A 22-year-old Sag Harbor man was driving a 2016 Chevy Silverado and attempted to make a turn at the intersection when he failed to execute the turn, nearly striking a residential building at 10 Hampton Street. Agencies including the Sag Harbor Village Police Department, Sag Harbor Fire Department and the Sag Harbor Volunteer Ambulance Corps responded to reports of the incident. Upon arrival, they found that the driver and his passenger, a 17-year-old woman, had extricated themselves from the vehicle on their own. Both driver and passenger were taken to Stony Brook Southampton Hospital and admitted for treatment of injuries.
