Many car wrecks are due to intoxication, recklessness, and sometimes, just a plain accident. However, there are times when a preexisting medical condition can cause an accident. Conditions such as poor eyesight, seizure disorders, diabetes, and heart disease can contribute to an accident. When these conditions occur, such as a seizure striking while a person is driving, it can be difficult to ascertain what exactly occurred. Medical conditions leading to an accident can make it difficult to determine fault. Many times, the driver is found at fault, particularly if the condition was preexisting and the driver was aware of the condition.

CBS Local New York reports on a Staten Island man who is being hailed as a hero during a bus crash. 53-year-old Jason Marshall was returning from a church retreat last Sunday in Colorado when he noticed something was wrong with the driver. He rushed forward and attempted to get control of the bus.
He was unable to stop the wreck from happening, but those on the bus say that it was likely Marshall’s actions that prevented the bus from rolling over, killing more people. Sadly, both Marshall and the bus driver died in the accident.
The 13 other passengers on the bus all survived. Many of them thanked Marshall’s actions.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation. Authorities are trying to determine if the driver had a seizure or some other medical episode.
