The Suffolk Daily Voice reported recently that two people are hospitalized, one in critical condition, following a major accident that involved an ambulance and a sport utility vehicle on the afternoon of Friday, April 2, 2021 in the Long Island hamlet of Carle Place.
According to officials with the Nassau County Police Department, the incident took place between 1:45 p.m. and 1:55 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST) on Friday, April 2, 2021 along Old Country Road in Carle Place. A Nassau County Police ambulance was eastbound on Old Country Road with emergency lights and sirens activated and functional when it collided with a Mercedes sport utility vehicle that was westbound and was making a left turn onto Zeckendorf Boulevard from Old Country Road. A Land Rover stopped on Zeckendorf Boulevard at the intersection was also impacted in the incident.

As a result of the collision, a medic with Nassau County Police was injured and transported to a hospital in stable condition, The driver of the Mercedes, a man 33 years of age, was injured severely and medically transported to a hospital in critical condition, while his passenger, a 56-year-old woman, was uninjured.
